About us
A rural law firm with its roots in the community.
Established in 2015, Hall Baird Solicitors brings together the legal expertise of David Hall and Karen Baird, both with well earned reputations for first class legal services.
Our story
Built on a shared vision.
The partnership came from a shared vision, drive and passion to deliver excellent personal and business legal services to those living in rural communities, and to dispel the myth that you must live in or go to the "big city" to access legal expertise.
David and Karen believe that a good client relationship is fundamentally important. Whether you are a rural landowner, farmer or tenant, a business or a private individual, you will receive the same level of professional, friendly and tailored service. We aim to be responsive and effective in helping clients achieve their goals.
Hall Baird are passionate about their rural roots and active in their rural communities.

The Old Exchange
Where the phones are ringing once again.
We trade from The Old Exchange in Castle Douglas. Built in the 1930s as a telephone repeater station and since decommissioned, it reportedly routed many calls between the Stewartry and London, and during the Second World War played an important role carrying calls between London and Belfast.
Communication is the key to any good relationship, and there is no better place for it than an old telephone exchange.
In the community
Shaking off the stuffy image.
Since starting the firm in September 2015 we have wanted people to see a friendly, personal side to solicitors. In January 2016 we invited the public to First Foot with us at The Old Exchange, and in April 2016 we teamed up with Age Scotland and Stewartry CVS for a free information event at the Gordon Memorial Hall on planning ahead.
